Odisha Vigilance has compiled a list of its accomplishments for 2024 as the year draws to an end tonight. Odisha Vigilance stepped up its anti-corruption activities throughout the state this year, bringing several honorable government workers to justice. Over the course of the previous year, the anti-corruption agency announced significant advancements in the identification, examination, and prosecution of corruption cases. 181 government officials and others were arrested as a result of the 200 criminal cases that Odisha Vigilance filed. 50 Class-I officers were the target of cases, including two assistant commissioners (CT&GST), six chief engineers, a jail superintendent, and numerous other high-ranking officials like BDOs, tehsildars, and sub-collectors.
19 engineers, 22 revenue officials, 20 PR & DW officials, 9 police officers, 5 doctors, and others were among those who were arrested. While 96 trap cases were documented, in which 115 people—including 99 government officials—were found to have accepted bribes totaling Rs 19.25 lakh, 60 disproportionate assets (DA) charges were filed, revealing illicit assets valued at over Rs 131 crore.
At the same time, 483 places throughout the state were searched in relation to DA and trap cases. A total of 792 bank accounts connected to dishonest officials were blocked, while 194 structures and projects valued at about Rs 27.03 crore were examined in 72 valuation instances. The highest-ever disposal rate of 154% was attained after investigations were completed in 307 cases. A 50% conviction rate was maintained with 105 convictions obtained. The conviction rate in DA cases was considerably greater, at 80%. Twenty-five government officials were removed from their positions after being found guilty.
