In a monumental achievement, Odisha’s Special Operation Group (SOG) has made headlines with their pivotal role in a joint anti-Maoist operation in neighboring Chhattisgarh. The operation, which resulted in the elimination of 14 Maoists, has earned the SOG jawans a tripled risk allowance, a testament to their bravery and selflessness.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, lauding the SOG’s efforts, announced a three-fold hike in their risk allowance, from Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000 per month. This significant increase is a well-deserved recognition of the SOG jawans’ unwavering commitment to combating left-wing extremism in the state.
The joint operation, conducted by Odisha SOG, Chhattisgarh police, and CRPF personnel, was a resounding success, with 14 Maoists, including five women members of the CPI (Maoist) and a central committee member, Ramachandra, alias Chalapathi, being neutralized. The SOG jawans played a crucial role in this operation, demonstrating their exceptional skill and bravery in the face of adversity.
One SOG jawan, who was injured during the fierce exchange of fire, has been declared out of danger, thanks to prompt medical attention.
