BHUBANESWAR: The e-KYC verification process for ration cards in Odisha is expected to be completed within the next 15-20 days, according to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
Minister Patra revealed that over 2.30 crore verifications have already been successfully completed, leaving around one crore still in progress. Upon the completion of the verification process, new ration cards will be issued to all eligible beneficiaries.
Highlighting the significance of the e-KYC initiative, Patra stated that it will help filter out ineligible individuals from the list of beneficiaries, ensuring that the scheme supports those who genuinely need assistance.
The minister also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Centre’s decision to extend the supply of free fortified rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) until 2028. Odisha, in alignment with the Centre’s decision, will continue providing free fortified rice under its state-run scheme as well.
