Odisha’s Education System Overhaul Discussed At National Workshop

At the Regional Institute of Education in Bhubaneswar, 10 groups examined different facets of the National Education Policy 2020 during a three-day workshop on its implementation. In order to lower dropout rates and enhance GER, discussions have been held regarding the following topics: school governance and culture, technological and digital education, teacher education and skill development, assessment and examination reform, middle and secondary stages, secondary stage two, and the development of the state curriculum framework.

The third day of the program began with group presentations on establishing a strategy for implementing the National Education Policy 2020 in the state. On the last day, all 10 groups presented varied proposals through their presentations. Important topics were covered, including the introduction of Shishu Vatika in the 2025 school year, the creation and contextualization of textbooks, and the enhancement of teacher competence. There was also discussion of a roadmap for growing higher secondary institutions and improving their ICT and internet connection.

Everyone agreed that a single SCF for every level should be created, taking into account the linguistic and cultural variety of Odisha. Create a vision paper that takes into account the history of education in Odisha. The groups shared their opinions about the district-level NEP 2020 administrative officer orientation, educating teachers about the new pedagogical framework, and creating mentor-teacher initiatives to foster leadership and individual development.
