Odisha’s First Park Library Opened At Bhubaneswar Forest Park

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) opened a public library at the Forest Park in Bhubaneswar which will encourage heading habits among the students, youngsters and also encourage community engagement.

This is the first of its kind initiative which was inaugurated on the occasion of World Poetry Day by R Balakrishnan who is the chief adviser to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. During the inauguration BDA Vice-chairman Prem Chandra Chaudhary was also present.

According to the report on the occasion Balakrishnan stated that this is a great step by the BDA which will promote the library culture and the reading habit which have been declined by the youngsters. He informed that the library will attract children, students, book lovers and people who are visiting the park will spend some time in this peaceful environment.

The report further elaborates that the Forest Park Library is collaboration between BDA and BAKUL foundation where the BDA provided the space and the infrastructure for the setting up the library. BAKUL Foundation helped in the development of the creative part of the library with racks and books with attractive murals.

As the library is located within the park so the open and close of the library will be with the park timing i.e; from 7 am to 10 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm throughout the week except Monday. The library includes all collections of Odia and English books including books for children also.
