It has been a good Kharif season for the state of Odisha. As per the reports, 57.22 Lakh metric tonnes of Karif crops were produced by farmers of Odisha this season. Moreover, as per the official stats, these crops are produced by 92,732 farmers.
The State government has informed that as compared to the 2020-21 Kharif season this year paddy has been procured from one lakh more farmers. Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Rajendra Pratap Swain has said that 57.22 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been procured from 12.92 lakh farmers at a cost of over Rs 11101.27 crore.
As compared to 2018-19, in 2021-22 more than 95 percent of farmers who sold their paddy are small and marginal farmers.
