In order to conduct a joint crop loss assessment, the Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment (A&FE) Department has canceled the leaves of eight districts’ extension workers or officials who were impacted by heavy rain or cyclonic storm Michaung from December 7 to December 12.
“In view of the occurrence of cyclonic rain, joint crop loss assessment by officials of Revenue & Agriculture Department is immediately required at the field level in adherence to SRC norm and no extension functionary or officials shall avail any leave during 7th December to 12th December 2023. In addition, the holidays on 2nd Saturday & Sunday of the above districts are hereby cancelled,” reads a letter by Principal Secretary, A&FE Department to Chief District Agriculture Officer & Deputy Director of Horticulture of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nawarangpur.
The letter also requested that, in accordance with the guidelines and format outlined in the SRC letter, the aforementioned officials submit any joint crop loss assessments to the Department by December 11th.
