Anu Garg, the Development Commissioner-turned-Additional Chief Secretary and Chairperson of OLIC, presided over the 209th Board of Directors meeting of the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation Ltd. (OLIC) today at Lokseva Bhawan. In order to create 9 lakh hectares of extra irrigation potential throughout the state, OLIC presented its ambitious five-year master plan (2025–26 to 2029–30) during the conference. Blocks with less than 35% irrigation coverage are given particular attention.
With a focus on solar energization to promote long-term sustainability and lessen energy reliance, the plan calls for the development of 1,50,500 deep borewells and 10,380 Cluster Lift Irrigation Projects (CLIPs). The Board valued OLIC’s expanded operational scope. In order to improve delivery and monitoring, Garg suggested that the company coordinate its efforts with those of other departments and concentrate on sustainability, energy efficiency, crop diversification, women farmers’ empowerment, and the use of digital and IT-based solutions.
