OPTCL Honoured With SKOCH Silver Award In Power & Energy Category

In the Power & Energy area, the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) has been bestowed with the SKOCH Silver Award. This esteemed award honors the company’s drone-based EHV Transmission Corridor Monitoring project, demonstrating its unwavering dedication to technological innovation and quality in the energy industry.

On behalf of OPTCL, this esteemed award was accepted by Priyadarsan Patra, CGM (IT), and BB Mehta, Director (SLDC). As they work together to shape the future of sustainable power transmission, the team’s unshakable dedication is what made this achievement possible, according to a press release released by OPTCL.

Hemant Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, commended the OPTCL team for delivering the SKOCH Award to the organization and urged them to carry on with similar attitude in upcoming projects. OPTCL, regarded as one of India’s top transmission utilities, with a vast network of 16,512 circuit kilometers of transmission lines. It effectively covers 195 grid substations and has a 26,376 MVA significant transformation capacity. OPTCL has demonstrated its dedication to quality with an astounding 99.98% availability rate, guaranteeing dependable and continuous power transmission throughout the area.

OPTCL drones capture high-resolution RGB and thermal images and videos of every tower and line span from multiple angles. These images provide comprehensive data that, when processed through AI-enabled image analysis, reveal potential faults and vulnerable points along our power lines. Using cutting-edge AI algorithms, OPTCL meticulously examines every detail captured by the drones. The AI identifies anomalies such as overheating components or structural weaknesses that could lead to failures.
