Odisha Govt Gears Up For Preparation Of ‘Viksit Odisha @ 2036’ Vision Document

The State-level Steering Committee met for the first time in order to prepare the vision document ViksitOdisha@2036 for ViksitBharat@ 2047. The conference, chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, who also serves as the chair of the Steering Committee, examined the outcomes of the first round of meetings conducted by six Sectoral Groups of Secretaries. The Sectoral Groups focusing on important topic areas, such as the Economy, Industries, and Infrastructure; Social & Human Development; Culture & Heritage; Technology and Innovation; Good Governance; and Rural Transformation, delivered preliminary presentations, which centered the discussions.

Chief Secretary Ahuja stressed in his speech that the State has a rare and important opportunity with the creation of the vision document. He pushed for teamwork among all groups, emphasizing the necessity for a methodical and practical approach to document preparation. Anu Garg, the Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, gave a briefing on the developments achieved by the Sectoral Groups.

Garg stressed that attaining regional balance and encouraging social and economic growth throughout the State must be the main goals of the vision paper. In line with India’s goal for 2047, she also emphasized the significance of adhering to global best practices in a number of areas in order to construct an ambitious roadmap for a developed Odisha by 2036. Additional Chief Secretary for Steel and Mines, Surendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, Satyabrata Sahoo, and a number of Principal Secretaries and Commissioner-cum-Secretaries representing the Sectoral Groups were among the other important attendees.

In order to establish a comprehensive vision document, the workshop also emphasized the importance of gathering feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders, including citizens, civil society organizations, legislators, academics, public intellectuals, corporate leaders, and think tanks. It was also stated that there are plans to open a web page for public comments and recommendations via digital platforms.
