OSDMA Inks MoU With NIMHANS For Effective Disaster Management

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), located in Bengaluru, and the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) inked a Memorandum of Understanding. The principal aim of the Memorandum of Understanding is to enable diverse stakeholders to conduct first aid and mental health care during a disaster, as well as to facilitate training and capacity building.

The application of diverse knowledge and abilities with a focus on mutual learning and ongoing growth will be made. The two organizations decided to further up their research into mental health-related topics after natural disasters. Sushmita Behera, the executive director of OSDMA and director of NIMHANS, and Pratima Murthy signed the agreement on behalf of the state government during the Bengaluru meeting.

This time, the state project officer of OSDMA Gaurishnak Mishra, Dr. Balshanti, Additional Professor Dr. Govind Majhi, and the institute’s registrar, Shankar Narayan Rao, were present. It is important to prepare both physically and psychologically for the crisis in order to meet it head-on and emerge from it unscathed.
