Actor Bhumi Pednekar has spoken about the transformative impact of OTT platforms on opportunities for female actors in India. She believes that streaming services have created a more balanced space where women-led stories can thrive, allowing actresses to take bold risks with their script choices.
Speaking at the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026, Bhumi shared that OTT has strengthened narratives centered around women, noting that female actors have always been courageous in selecting unconventional roles, and now finally have the right platform to showcase them.
Reflecting on her journey since her debut in Dum Laga Ke Haisha, the actor also encouraged aspiring actresses to pursue their dreams with confidence. She emphasized that while the film industry may seem intimidating, it has become a space where many women are thriving, advising newcomers to stay aware, trust their instincts, and learn from experience.
On the professional front, Bhumi was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi alongside Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh. She also featured in Netflix’s romantic drama The Royals opposite Ishaan Khatter, which, despite mixed critical response, achieved strong viewership numbers.
