“Palak Chauhan Lights Up Minds with The Thought Lantern: An Intimate Interview Invitation”

Palak Chauhan—founder and editor of the inspiring platform The Thought Lantern—has crafted a serene space where introspection, creativity, and heartfelt expression converge Instagram. As a writer, poet, and storyteller, Palak is on a journey to nurture thoughts into beacons of hope. In this interview, we seek to uncover her motivations, creative process, and vision—illuminating not just what The Thought Lantern is, but why it exists.

  1. What inspired you to start The Thought Lantern?
(Please share the moment or idea that sparked this creative journey.)
Ans – It all started the moment I decided to do something unique for myself. I didn’t want to follow the same old work culture and somewhere I felt my inner voice was yelling at me. I had always struggled to get my works published, so I created a platform where voice is more important and no one pressurizes you to speak what they want to tell you to the audience in general. I have always done unique things since my childhood so I wanted every writer to feel comfortable while submitting the content.

  2. Can you tell us about the meaning behind the name “The Thought Lantern“?
(How do you envision it reflecting your mission or aesthetic?)
Ans – This name has a simple yet effective meaning that when we are lost on the track of life our thoughts 💭 become the lantern 🏮 to guide us in that darkness. It creates an identity in itself that when you hear such a name it is inspiring that thoughts become our guiding light.

  3. What types of content do you curate on the platform—and which genre or theme resonates most with you personally?
(For instance, poetry, short essays, cultural reflections, etc.)
Ans – We support writers with unique voices so to increase more awareness about Indian culture we are focusing on the important festivals of India and yes, we have talented writers who share what they feel personally it can be in the form of a short story, poems, and many more.

  4. How has your background in writing and mass communication influenced the tone and style of the platform?
(Feel free to share how your previous projects have shaped this one.)
    Lift Magazine
Ans- Well, to be very honest my expertise and knowledge is the key behind the platform. Being a journalism and mass communication student taught me how different platforms work and the biggest part is working and gaining experience from companies like Cnbc TV 18, Dissent Times, karmactive, Green Bhumi, introspect magazine , unicorn magazine these have not only improved me but also changed the way I observe media now.

So, I would say it is a perfect blend of everything put together to form something big and incredible.

  1. Who are the voices or inspirations behind the content you feature—both your own and your contributors’?
(Do you draw from literary figures, personal experiences, or broader cultural narratives?)
Ans – I feature both the contents and yes, the main aim is to stick to our traditional cultural narratives as well and Thought Lantern stands with it. Somewhere I know that my content is also teaching the writers and the readers I am also getting educated on an equal front.

  2. What do you hope readers and followers of The Thought Lantern take away from the platform?
(Is it comfort, creative spark, introspection, or something else entirely?)
Ans – I would joyfully say that it is a mixture of talent, creative sparkle, and most importantly cultural values which our magazine aims to feature. It is more than an experience but also an example that our culture is a blessing and is filled with unique stories.

  1. Can you walk us through your creative process—from idea to publication?
(For instance: How do you find inspiration, and what steps do you take to bring a thought to life?)
Ans – Well, everything starts with ideation at Thought Lantern then it is discussed with the team members everything here is meant to be showcased in front of the audience. Step 1 starts with reading then gradually writing the ideas which I have and then discussing about the idea and then a big yes from the team members then accepting submissions from the writers and finally designing and publishing a masterpiece in front of people.

8.What are your hopes for the future of The Thought Lantern—and for yourself as its curator?
(Do you envision new formats, collaborations, or even expansion into events, books, or workshops?)
Ans – Yes, absolutely I would love to do collaborations, experiment with new formats, and expand it so that people know about us and most importantly writers should feel like home 🏡 working with Thought Lantern we will surely build that unbreakable bond and trust once we move ahead in the entire process of making thousands of writers connect with us.
