Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congressman and Member of Parliament, today outlined a number of promises that would be carried out if the party won the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections and took power in Odisha and the Center. Speaking to a sizable public assembly at Salipur, Cuttack, the Congress leader pledged to reimburse the public funds embezzled by the state and federal governments. If the Congress is elected to power, he claimed, they would immediately deposit Rs 2,000 into the bank accounts of the State’s women each month.
The young people without jobs will receive Rs 3,000 a month into their bank accounts. LPG cylinders will be given out for 500 rupees. A minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 3,000 will be given to the farmers for each quintal of paddy. Additionally, the former president of the AICC promised young people job chances under the “Pehli Naukri Pakki” initiative. If someone applied for a job, the government would give it to them. Gandhi said, “Once Congress takes power, the educated youth mass will receive the best vocational training.”
“We will also transfer Rs 1 lakh to crores of accounts to make people lakhpati. Narendra Modi is waiving off the loans of industrialists, but Congress will waive off loans of farmers. I promised that the remuneration of ASHA and Anganwadi workers would be doubled if our party came to power. The wage of the labourers under MGNREGA wage will be increased to Rs 400. We will ensure land, forest and water rights of the tribals in the country, the Congress leader said.
Rahul Gandhi visited “Utkal Gourav” Madhusudan Das’ birthplace at Satyabhamapur on the occasion of his birth anniversary and presented flowers before speaking at the rally in Salipur.
