PM Modi To Launch AB-PMJAY, Ayurvedic Hospital In Odisha On October 29

Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will use a video conference to officially open a 21-acre Ayurvedic and Naturopathy Hospital in Jatni, Odisha, on October 29, the National Ayurveda Day. Mahaling said that the Prime Minister would also open a vital medical facility in Bargarh and the Central Drugs Testing Laboratory of the Eastern Zone in Gothapatna.

Additionally, under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), Modi will provide health coverage to all citizens 70 years of age and older, regardless of their financial situation. The recipients will receive free medical care up to Rs 5 lakh at any hospital that is affiliated with AB PMJAY.

It is important to note that Odisha did not adopt the Ayushman Bharat health insurance program. The Prime Minister is now expected to introduce the extended Ayushman Bharat health insurance program for those who are 70 years of age or older. An estimated 4.5 crore homes and six crore persons will profit from it. However, those who currently get benefits from other public health insurance programs, including as the Ayushman Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), have the option of selecting AB PM-JAY or sticking with their current plan.
