On March 31, 2023, during the annual national change of guard ceremony conducted at FICCI House in Delhi, the Bhubaneswar chapter of the FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) announced the appointment of Ms. Poonam Mohapatra as its new Chairperson for the fiscal years 2023–24. Poonam, who has several talents, serves as a director for organisations such as MGM Agritech & Research institute Pvt Ltd, Rach Skillhive LLP, and Enwheel Technologies. Her businesses are in the sustainable agriculture, agritech, food packaging and retail, and technology sectors, and she hopes to influence society by encouraging people to adopt sustainable lifestyles as everyday routines.
With its headquarters in Delhi and 19 branches Across INDIA, FLO is the women’s section of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), representing around 9000 female entrepreneurs across the country. FLO has been advancing female entrepreneurship and professional excellence through workshops, seminars, conferences, training, capacity building programmes, etc. for over 39 years. The 17th chapter, FLO BHUBANESWAR, was established in April 2020.
“FLO has been closely working with National initiatives up until now and has done immense contribution in sectors like Industry & startups, Education & skilling, Digital & Financial Literacy, Village Holistic developments,” Poonam Mohapatra said when asked about her goals for the FY 2023–24. “This year’s focus would be on Women Education & Skilling, Women Led Businesses, Women in Leadership roles, and Legal & Policy Advocacy.” Namrita Chahal, the outgoing chair, handed the reins to Poonam.Importantly, FLO seeks to empower women and mainstream them based on their talents, experiences, and energy across industry sectors for a trajectory of inclusive economic growth. It works with women on three levels: to increase the number of women in leadership and board positions; to assist women in starting their own businesses; to foster entrepreneurship and skill development; and to increase the employability of women.
The FLO chapter in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was established in April 2020 with Dharitri Pattnaik serving as the founding chair. Sunita Mohanty and Namrita Chahal took over as co-chairs for the fiscal years 2022 and 2023, respectively.
