For the civilian usage of Amanda Road Airport (Rasgovindpur) in Mayurbhanj district functional, Union Minister Pratap Sarangi requested Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh, Puri, by writing a letter.
In the letter, Sarangi stated that the airport which is under the control of the Indian Air Force has tremendous potential for future Air Traffic growth. The proposed airport has an immense future to catalyze development by way of generating faster connectivity to promote tourism and business apart from mainstreaming the unserved region.
Sarangi further added in the letter for the civilian the Air Force operated airport can be adequately utilized as the existing infrastructure and facilities are in very good condition. The public has been demanding an airport for a long time and looking at the perfect condition and facilities the airport can be easily used by the civilians.
Earlier also Sarangi wrote down a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the civil aviation minister to make the airport functional for the civilians. To which the Civil Aviation Minister informed that the Airport has already been included under UDAN Scheme as an unserved Airport but no operator has come ahead in various rounds of efforts to serve flights from the airport under the UDAN Scheme.
Sarangi requested Prime Minister Modi to issue an instruction to the authorities upon the Air Operations to bid for the operation from the proposed Airport in the light of immense potential in the future Air traffic growth in the sector.
