On the eve of 74th Independence Day, President Ram Nath Kovind addresses nation by depicting this year will be more restrained. This year will be restricted owing to the Coronavirus Pandemic which has “altered the world we live in”, as said by President.
He stated that right now, the whole world is confronting this deadly virus which has obstructed all activities and taken a substantial loss.
He commended the efforts of all healthcare at the frontline in the country’s fight against this virus, everyone who worked day and night to save others lives- “Indebted to doctors, nurses and other health workers. The hardest hit of this epidemic has been on the poor and daily livelihood earners. In this era of crisis, along with efforts to prevent them, several public welfare measures have been taken” said the President.
Due to this crisis, the celebrations for this year’s Independence Day has been cancelled, but ‘At Home’ ceremony will be hosted by our President where 25 COVID warriors are invited at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 15th August.
The President also spoke about the Galwan Valley face-off in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives fighting the Chinese army in June. “Our brave soldiers laid down their lives defending our borders.
Those worthy sons of Bharat Mata lived and died for national pride. Their bravery in combat has demonstrated that while we believe in peace, we are also capable of giving a befitting response to any attempt of aggression,” he said.
He shared his views on the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya- “a moment of pride for all. Just 10 days back, the construction of the Ram temple was started at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and Indians are proud”.
He said about the launching of ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana’, which will reduce the pain of losing jobs due to the epidemic, moving from one place to another and disrupting life.
Even free grains are provided to the needy people so that no family will starve. Every month, around 80 crore people are guaranteed ration through this campaign, he further informed.
He even stated regarding the National Education Policy 2020- “It will strengthen the culture of ‘Inclusion’, ‘Innovation‘ and ‘Institution’ in the sphere of education.”
He spoke about PM Narendra Modi’s push for self-reliance because of the global pandemic, saying, “India’s self-reliance means being self-sufficient without alienating or creating distance from the world.”
