On October 2, the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jharkhand to inaugurate the “Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan” at Hazaribagh. Through this effort, the indigenous community will get economic empowerment and their communities would be elevated. PM Modi will also speak at the last rally of the BJP’s “Parivartan Yatra,” a statewide campaign in Jharkhand, after the inauguration. PM Modi will be visiting the state for the second time in less than two weeks.

He spoke at a BJP rally on September 15 and opened six Vande Bharat Express trains in Jamshedpur. The next visit is significant since it will be PM Modi’s fourth inauguration of a major national initiative from Jharkhand. Ayushman Bharat Yojana (2018), Kisan Maandhan Yojana (2019), and the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in November 2023 are among the previous initiatives that have been introduced. Approved by the Union government on September 18, the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan seeks to bring nearly 63,000 villages with a tribal majority—spread over 549 districts in 30 states and Union territories—into the mainstream of development. The programme, which has a budgeted budget of Rs 79,156 crore, is intended to help more than 5 crore members of indigenous tribes.

The construction of 20 lakh homes, 25,000 km of rural roads and bridges, and the provision of gas, electricity, and clean drinking water are among the main goals. In addition, 100 schools, skill development centers, mobile health units, and tribal market centers are to be constructed. In order to increase tribal earnings, the project also prioritizes the preservation of tribal culture and customs while promoting horticulture and agriculture. According to official sources, PM Modi will also meet with members of the nation’s 33 tribal communities following the opening event at the Vinoba Bhave University campus in Hazaribagh.

PM Modi’s second engagement of the day will be in Gandhi Maidan, Matwari in Hazaribagh, where he will speak at the BJP’s “Parivartan Yatra” finale rally. Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Yatra in Sahibganj on September 20, and it has already traversed 76 of the state’s 81 Assembly seats.
