As Elections Loom, Unemployment Data Paints a Mixed Picture Across States : Kerala Struggles, Haryana Surges

Kerala has the highest youth unemployment rate in India at 29.9%, with female unemployment reaching 47.1%, as per the 2023-24 Periodic Labour Force Survey. In contrast, Haryana has significantly reduced its unemployment rate from 8.8% to 4.1%, thanks to government initiatives in manufacturing and infrastructure development.

As elections near, unemployment remains a key issue for both the ruling BJP and the opposition. While the BJP highlights its success in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, continues to challenge the government’s claims, making job creation a central point of debate.
