Author and social activist Promila Devi Sutharsan Huidrom, who hails from Manipur and is currently based in Norway, has taken a remarkable step towards empowering underprivileged girls through education. Known for her deep commitment to social welfare, Promila Devi has officially launched a Scholarship for the Underprivileged Girl Child, aimed at providing educational support and basic amenities necessary for schooling.

The initiative focuses on ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder a young girl’s right to learn and grow. The scholarship not only covers tuition-related expenses, but also provides school supplies, uniforms, and other essential amenities required to create a stable educational environment.

In a heartwarming beginning, the scholarship has already been extended to one girl child from Durgapur, marking the start of what Promila Devi envisions as a long-term mission to bring education and dignity to many more young girls in need.
Speaking about the initiative, Promila Devi said,
“Education is not just a right; it’s the foundation for independence and self-respect. Every girl deserves a fair chance to dream, to learn, and to achieve. Through this scholarship, I hope to play a small part in building that future.”
Promila Devi Sutharsan Huidrom, who has been actively involved in addressing immigration issues in Manipur, has long championed women’s education, empowerment, and livelihood initiatives. Her work bridges continents, reflecting her belief that compassion and change know no boundaries.
This scholarship stands as a beacon of hope—encouraging education as the most powerful tool for transformation, especially for girls from marginalized backgrounds.
