Two public hearings have been scheduled by the district government to address the rehabilitation of landowners who would be impacted by the Sri Jagannath International Airport project. Sipasarubali Mouja will host the first hearing on April 9 at 11 a.m., while Mangala Mandap in Sandhapur and Goruala in Puri will host the second hearing on April 11 at 12 p.m. The purpose of the hearings is to provide landowners a forum to voice their thoughts and worries about the project’s rehabilitation and resettlement plan. To address the concerns of the impacted landowners, the District Collector, Sub-District Collector, and Land Acquisition Officer will attend the hearings.
Landowners who will lose their property as a result of the airport project will be compensated under the rehabilitation plan. A vital step in making sure that those who may be impacted are informed and participating in the process is holding public hearings. In a letter to the District Information and Public Relations Officer, the District Collector has asked that media representatives attend the public hearings. The letter said that public notifications for the villages of Sipasurubuli and Sandhapur had been issued in accordance with the hearings’ timetable, which is set forth in accordance with the RFCTLAR&R Act-2013.
