Born in a lower-middle-class family to humble parents in a small town at Hijli of West Bengal, Mr Murli Krushna Patnaik, had an earnest passion to be an independent individual and ached to become an entrepreneur leader in the future. After having accomplished a Masters Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Finance, Mr Patnaik joined one of the highly reputed Ferro Alloys Companies, where he served in various capacities for 20 years- rising from a very rank officer to Sr General Manager, Finance.
However, the zeal to become an employer’ coerced Mr Patnaik to set up the enterprise MK Plast Private Limited. MK Plast was the result of his sanctification, discipline and the utmost focus on his goals. Moreover, he also understood that any business activity with sizeable employment potential is a dedicated social service. Therefore he grew MK Plast to one of the major economic driving forces of Odisha.
Today MK Plast as a Plant has expanded into a worthy foundation proffering subsistence to over 100 individuals undeviatingly and several more discursively for a kinder society. Mr Patnaik feels delighted that his years of devotedness has led the water supply facilities in remote rural regions to a reality.
It was the philosophy of the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha, Mr Naveen Patnaik, which led Mr MK Patnaik venture into the synthetic pipe industry. It was discovered that to afford water across the vast rural regions of Odisha, there were not enough pipes produced locally. Further, the manufacturing outfits that have come up over the years, have not been able to produce quality pipes. Mr Naveen Patnaik beckoned to provide deprived rural folks with safe and adequate drinking water, which Murli Krushna made an envision to do something close to heart and thereby MK Plast was founded.
Under the Make in Odisha initiative, a PVC & HDPE plant set up ina record time of 8 months. Moreover, an A3-acre plot of land granted by the IDCO at Ramdaspur Industrial estate in Cuttack district, at a location between the twin cities now is home to a vibrant super-grade pipe-churning plant for the formation of MK Plast. Today, MK Plast renders the most high-grade characteristic durable plastic pipes throughout the state.
Murli Krushna Patnaik always states that that the dream-come-true project became possible only because the ease of doing business facilities in the state of Odisha is for real and beyond expectation at least for the small scale industrial units.
According to Mr Patnaik, “The demand for plastic pipes will keep growing as metal pipes are being phased out at all industrial, public, and domestic domains. The only guarantee to a longtime fruitful survival can be achieved only if the quality of products is ensured. Fair pricing is the other factor that keeps an enterprise going healthily. Reputation climbs high when the consumer is satisfied that good ‘value for money’ is assured.”
By giving the taste of quality materials for a fair price, MK Plast has developed a whole culture of ‘love for own state products’ rather than trusting ‘out of state’ goods among Odisha consumers. Even today, several outside products are sold in Odisha only for assurance of quality. Slowly but surely, every non-quality product manufacturer will be forced to improve quality to survive. As a result, local consumers will buy more from them, and plastic pipe revenue will grow hugely within the state and MK Plast will be the leader of this revolution.
