The Regional Medical and Research Centre (RMRC) has diagnosed the diarrhoea-causing bacteria in the Kashipur block of Rayagada district as Vibrio Cholera.
According to the reports, District Collector Swadha Dev Singh informed that the RMRC has submitted the report after examining the samples. Adequate measures have been taken to control the disease.
She informed me that the treatment protocol has been activated. While ASHA and Anganwadi workers are distributing medicines in the affected villages, a helpline number has also been issued for emergency purposes.
Some villages of Kashipur are on the river bank and as per reports, the river water and the groundwater are contaminated. The water source has been isolated for decontamination. In the meantime, drinking water is being supplied in the affected villages through a water tanker two to three times a day, added Singh.
