In Odisha, allegations of physical and psychological abuse have been made against a BJD MLA and his family. This time, BJD MLA Shashi Bhusan Behera and his family are allegedly responsible for abusing Ronali, the daughter-in-law. On March 3, 2023, Ronali filed an official complaint with the Banki police station against Behera and his family. On March 3, 2021, Ronali wed Satyaprakash, the son of Behera. She claims that her husband is having an extramarital relationship with another married lady.

Ronali has claimed that she was tortured for dowry by her husband and in-laws. “Everyone used to abuse me at my in-laws’ house in front of my father-in-law. Ten days hardly passed after my marriage before the torment began. Ronali claimed, “My in-laws had requested me to bring antique gold jewellery. Ronali said that her husband used to converse until the wee hours of the morning with someone. She claimed that she later learned that he was conversing with a lady. In addition, Ronali claimed that her in-laws used to subject her to torture in exchange for dowry and coerced her into borrowing Rs 40 lakh from her parents.

Shashi Bhusan Behera, in the meantime, denied the claims made by his daughter-in-law. “My son and daughter-in-law could have some differences.
