Rs 247 Crore Spent On Jute Bag Distribution Before Elections Says Odisha Food Minister

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra disclosed in the Assembly that prior to the 2024 general elections, the Odisha government distributed jute bags all over the state for a staggering Rs 247.36 crore. In answer to a query from Amarendra Das, the MLA for Jagatsinghpur, Patra revealed that the government had spent a lot of money producing and distributing jute bags throughout all of Odisha’s seats.

In addition, the government gave each household Rs 959.05 crore, or Rs 1,000, in financial support. However, the Minister clarified that the program has been stopped and that jute bags and cash help are not available to individuals who have not yet received them.
