Rs 28,200 Cr Supplementary Budget Tabled In Odisha Assembly

On September 22, Bikram Keshari Arukha, the finance minister for Odisha, presented the state parliament with the Rs 28,200 crore supplemental budget for 2023–24. According to Arukha, who briefed reporters outside the House, the additional provision of Rs 28,200 crore is divided into Rs 20,100 crore for program expenditure, Rs 2,864 crore for administrative expenditure, Rs 4,664 crore for disaster management, and Rs 572 crore for transfer to local bodies.

According to him, of the Rs 20,100 crore allocated for program spending, Rs 15,624 crore was set aside for State Sector Schemes (SSS), Rs 4,441 crore for Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), and Rs 35 crore for Central Sector Schemes. According to Arukha, funding for the panchayati raj and drinking water department totaled Rs 3,417 crore, while the sector for education and skill development received Rs 3,336 crore and agriculture and related activities received Rs 1,613 crore.

Additionally, he said, the additional budget included Rs 1,136 crore for ST & SC development, Rs 771 crore for social security, Rs 1,253 crore for Mission Shakti, and Rs 862 crore for public healthcare. He claimed that an extra Rs 2,864 crore had been allocated under administrative expenses to cover costs for salaries, dearness allowance, back pay, the holding of recruitment exams and elections, including police arrangements, etc.

The government has set aside money for recently introduced plans and initiatives. Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha program, Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LACCMI) scheme, Metro rail project, Odisha transport drivers and workers welfare program, and IT connectivity to panchayats have all been allocated funds totaling Rs. 1,302 crore. The state’s income collection and expenditures increased by 19% and 39%, respectively, through the conclusion of the fiscal year, according to the finance minister.
