A “dharam (religion) censor board” has been established by saints at the “Magh Mela” in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, to monitor insults to Hindu deities and culture in movies, documentaries, web series, and other forms of entertainment. To prevent the slandering of Hindu customs, a 10-member censor board has been established, presided over by Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati.Following the Censor Board’s instructions, the board will screen entertainment items on Thursday.

According to Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, this board has numerous veterans from various spheres of culture and religion. He was now executing the duties of this board’s chairman by himself. He continued by saying that this board would serve as a guide to avoid the recording or broadcast of any audio or video that would belittle Hindu gods and goddesses or curse the culture. The board would take action to halt the production of movies that denigrated Hindu deities. He said that it would not be acceptable to produce movies, TV shows, or serials that desecrate Sanatan culture in order to gain cheap popularity.

He continued by saying that it had been developed to aid the government and the censor board. The board would tell all serial and web series directors of this situation by contacting them. Despite this, a request would be made to the Hindu society to not watch any films or television series that were “anti-Hindu” and damaged the faith. He added that in addition to this, protest will also be made if necessary using a variety of channels.
