Nearly 300 tribal students of Ekalabya Residential School had gone on protest today to complain against its administrations. The students marched for 5 km on foot to convey their grievances to the Collector here. The school is entirely run by the SC & ST Development Department.
The students had a note of complaints which were not fulfilled by the administration for quite a long period of time. Among them were quality of food being served at the school’s hostel, poor condition of toilets, non-issuance of uniforms, shortage of teachers and the principal’s rude behaviour towards those who complained of the shortcomings.

Apart from the March, the students sat on Dharna as well in front of the Collector’s office to convey their grievances. They refused to speak to the Additional District Magistrate (ADM), the Collector and the Project Administrator, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA).
