A number of Washington, D.C. schools were placed on lockdown following the receipt of menacing emails.Today, Washington, D.C. was rocked by chaos and fear as the city dealt with the fallout from hundreds of email bomb threats. Numerous lockdowns were implemented as a result of hundreds of emails being addressed to well-known schools. The threats that were sent via email to many schools shortly before 11 a.m. prompted a swift response from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), which opened an inquiry into them.The MPD reassured the public in a social media statement that police were working with D.C. Public and Charter schools to guarantee the security of their employees and kids. Law enforcement is looking into the source of around 200 threatening emails, even though there is no proof to support the claims.
Benjamin Armbruster, a managing editor of R Statecraft and a resident of Washington, DC, disclosed that his child’s elementary school—a public charter in the district—was included in an email chain that was distributed to 191 recipients. Residents have reported a state of pandemonium around the city as a result of the threats.
“My child’s elementary school, a DC public charter, just called to inform me that it “was included in an email chain with a bomb threat.” He said on X, “This threat was sent to 191 recipients in DC and has caused chaos throughout the city.”
