With tight security arrangements and imposition of Section 144, the annual Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath will be held this year.
According to the official report after the Chhattisa Bijog meeting, the Puri Collector Samarth Verma announced the rules and regulation to be followed while the Annual Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath
While informing about the curfew imposition, Verma stated that it will be effective from the Jagannath temple to the holy tank. It was earlier decided that no devotees will be allowed to participate and an adequate number of police personnel will be deployed along the stretch to ensure tight security.
In another major decision at the Nijog meeting, only 50 to 70 servitors who have tested negative for COVID-19 will be allowed to participate in the rituals. The servitors will first have to undergo RT-PCR tests 72 hours before the festival.
As per the ritual Akshaya Tritiya day marks the initiation of chariot construction work, the district administration has decided to isolate servitors engaged in woodwork at Niladri Bhakta Niwas and Section 144 will be in force at the Ratha Khala area too.
It was decided that the Chandan Yatra rituals will be live telecast with an aim to devotees seeks blessings of the Holy Trinity and only a few media persons will be allowed during the festival.
