Prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC has been imposed at Deomali in Koraput district for the next 60 days. Entry of all unauthorized tourists and outsiders into Deomali have been prohibited after 9.00 pm till 8.00 am, unless specifically permitted.
The district administration has taken such a decision as some tourists and unsocial elements spending the night at Deomali were damaging the environment and government property by lighting campfires in non-designated places which is harming the ecological balance of the place.
Collector Abdaal M. Akhtar has directed the Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, field level teams to implement the order. The order shall not apply to Executive Magistrates and police personnel and other public servants on duty.
Any person violating the order shall be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of section 15 of the Environment Protection Act. 1986, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC,1860 and other legal provisions as applicable.
