Six New Planetariums To Come Up In Odisha With An Investment Of Rs 100 Crore

Six more planetariums to come up in State and Science Centre in each of the 30 districts with an investment of Rs 100 crore, announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

During the laying foundation ceremony of a planetarium at Rayagada and a district science center at Jeypore in Koraput district through video conferencing, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the announcement of having six more planetariums in the coming days. Even the Pathani Samanta Planetarium in Bhubaneswar will soon be transformed into a 3-D Planetarium for the better enjoyment of the features.

While laying the foundation CM Patnaik stated that if humanity has attained the zenith of civilization today, it is due to science. Science and development are the two sides of the same coin and Odisha are ahead of progressing towards the knowledge economy by the use of science and technology.

CM Patnaik further stated that the Odisha Government is taking numerous steps to assist the students to have more interest in science, information technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Minister Jagannath Saraka during the laying foundation ceremony at Rayagada stated that the recommended planetarium will encourage scientific temper among the students. He also thanked the Chief Minister for establishing up a science center at Jeypore.

Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Minister Padmini Dian who was also present during the ceremony congratulated the event and stated that this news will be a good effect on the Koraput district. Because of the add-up planetarium, the center will create inquisitiveness among the students about science.

The planetarium in Bhubaneswar was the only planetarium in Odisha but later in 2017 the planetarium in Sambalpur became the second one in the state and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Minister Ashok Chandra Panda informed that the planetariums will come up include Baripada, Keonjhar, Gopalpur, and Jeypore which will promote science in the State, Science, and Technology.
