Before the Srimandir Parikrama Project officially opened on January 17, the Arpan Rathas traveled throughout Odisha and received donations totaling Rs 3,06, 62,813 from followers all throughout the state. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) made the announcement today.
“A donation of Rs.3,06,62,813 has been received by the temple administration from various office viz., Zilla Parishad Office, District Collector, Panchayat Samiti, Municipal Corporation and Gram Panchayat between 22-01-24 and 07-02-24. The money received by the administration was collected from devotees from all 30 districts.” SJTA official stated.
A separate committee was established by the SJTA to handle the devotees’ offerings. The committee placed the money in the temple administration’s bank account after counting it in six stages. Additionally, the raths gathered from the devotees about 250 quintals of rice, which the temple administration gave to the management of the temple.
Using the rice donations, the Supakar servants made khichidi and kanika prasad and gave them to worshippers in the vicinity of the temple. As offerings to Lord Jagannath, devotees gave him rice, betel nuts, and cash. The rice that is collected from devotees is not of the same grade, hence it was not utilized to make Mahaprasad. For the Holy Trinity, Bidia Paan will be made using the betel nuts gathered by Arpan Raths. Prior to the official opening of the Srimandir Parikrama project on January 17, the Arpan Raths were announced at the block and panchayat levels throughout the State in the first week of January.
