While the Indian men’s cricket team could not fetch any award in the ICC award panelist, Smriti Mandhana has made India proud by winning the ICC women’s cricketer of the year award. The left-hander Indian opener scored 855 international runs in 22 matches at an average close to 40.

This is for the second time after 2018 that Smriti has now won the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy awarded to the ICC women’s cricketer of the year. Last year Smriti scored 5 international half-centuries as well. She is currently the vice-captain of India’s T20 setup.
While in the men’s category, the ICC cricketer of the year has been won by Pakistan young speedster Shaheen Afridi who has taken 78 international wickets in 36 international appearances in 2021.
