PM Narendra Modi lashed out on people who viewed human rights “with an eye on political gains and loss” and were therefore harming democracy.
According to the reports, PM stated that people see human rights violations in some incidents but not in other similar incidents. Human rights are violated when viewed via political spectacles and selective behaviour is harmful to democracy.
PM talked at the 28th Founding Day of the National Human Rights Commission of India where he lauded his government’s sabka saath, sabka vikas” campaign slogan, and declared it reflected “the basic principle of ensuring human rights for all.
He further added that some people try to dent the country’s image in the name of human rights and they need to be alert about it. Looking at human rights with an eye on political gains and loss harms these rights as well as democracy.
The Prime Minister also praised the provision of paid maternity leave of 26 weeks calling it basically the protection of the rights of new-born.
