Shree Jagannath Temple’s lofty claim of tight security fell flat after a photo of the shrine’s sanctum sanctorum went viral on social media. Lord Jagannath was allegedly seen in the photograph that was shared on social media.
The image was obtained from the Facebook account of a West Bengal teen named Akash Choudhury.
The photograph was most likely taken with a mobile phone. The young man shared it on his Facebook page, along with some Bengali captions.
According to devotees, the FB post has hurt their religious feelings because photography of any kind inside the temple is strictly prohibited.
The incident has pointed a finger at the security system and exposed flaws in the centuries-old shrine.
It is worth noting that the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has prohibited the use of mobile phones, cameras, and other electronic devices on temple grounds for security reasons. A public awareness sign has also been placed near Singhdwar.
