Rain and thunderstorms were expected in Odisha into the early hours of April 7 according to the regional office of the India Meteorological Centre. Throughout the following three days, the state will experience a steady increase in daytime temperatures of 4°C–6°C. Up until Sunday evening, certain locations in the districts of Koraput, Cuttack, Khurda, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nuapada, Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Keonjhar are under a yellow thunderstorm warning that includes lightning.
To avoid being struck by lightning, people have been encouraged to monitor the weather and shift to safer locations as needed. In the meanwhile, most areas in coastal and central Odisha had mild to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with severe rainfall occurring in one location over the Ganjam district.
