Even he was unaware that his company would reach such heights; he named it Falcon because he enjoyed the idea of soaring high into the sky.He was the fourth of eight children and was born on March 14, 1953, in the Keonjhar, Odisha, neighbourhood of Anandapur. His father, the late Padmanava Patnaik, was a civil lawyer.”The setup was middle-class. While sitting in Falcon House in Bhubaneswar, the corporate headquarters of his company, Tara Ranjan recalls, “My father was a lawyer in the lower courts, yet all our basic needs were supplied.He began his studies in 1954 at a government school in Anandapur before moving to Bhadrak in 1969 to enrol in the college’s science programme and beginning to live in a dorm. He did, however, leave it after a year because he found the regular strikes and student unrest in the college to be upsetting.In 1970 and 1971, he studied in the scientific stream again after moving back to Keonjhar since he had lost interest in the subject. He changed to the arts stream in 1972 and enrolled at Keonjhar’s Anandapur College, where he eventually earned his degree.
