Tata Steel employees and their families across various locations in Odisha actively engaged in volunteer work during the Tata Steel Volunteering Week, a week-long celebration of community involvement commencing on August 25, 2023. This event took place at multiple Tata Steel sites, including Tata Steel Bhubaneswar, Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM), Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK), and other locations, featuring a wide array of volunteer activities focused on benefiting society.
In Bhubaneswar, Tata Steel employees began the week with great enthusiasm, showcasing their dedication to community well-being. A notable aspect of this endeavor at Prativa Ashram, an orphanage in Bhubaneswar, was the contribution of essential provisions and medications to support the health and welfare of 30 residents. Additionally, career counseling sessions were held for students above the 10th standard, offering valuable insights into diverse career opportunities.
At Tata Steel Meramandali, employees, under the leadership of Mohit Das, Chief Corporate Services, TSM, launched the Tata Steel Volunteering Week with a dedicated Monsoon Road Safety Awareness Campaign. This effort, conducted in collaboration with local authorities and the community, involved the distribution of informative leaflets to drivers and pedestrians, along with street plays by the security department. Awareness initiatives addressing human-wildlife conflicts, particularly related to elephants in Hindol, were also organized.
Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) employees actively participated in a Monsoon Road Safety Awareness Program, Spoken English sessions, and Career Counseling sessions at NIIT Foundation, Duburi. Interactive awareness sessions on various important subjects such as personal safety, self-defense techniques, confidence-building, health and hygiene, electrical safety, and disaster management were also conducted at the TSK premises for junior college students. Throughout the week, activities engaged students and children from local schools and orphanages, encompassing plantation drives, health check-up camps, and career guidance sessions.
Furthermore, all other Tata Steel locations organized their respective local activities as part of the Tata Steel Volunteering Week. This event stands as a testament to the company’s enduring commitment to creating a positive impact on society.
