The Dhenkanal district administration under orders of the Orissa High Court today evicted three temples from the premises of Joranda Gadi.
Kaupinidhari sub-sect of the Mahima sect worshipped at these temples. However, the rival Bakaladhari sub-sect of the Mahima sect had been alleging that these temples were encroachments.
The Bakaladhari sub-sect had moved the High Court against the encroachments. The High Court had decreed in favour of the Bakaladhari sub-sect and had ordered for eviction of these temples.
“This is a very old case. It dates back to pre-independence times. There is a dispute between the two sub-sects Bakaladhari and Kaupinidhari. The Kaupinidharis use the place for holding their rituals and worship. In 1990 the High Court ordered its eviction but the order was not executed. This year through an execution case filed in the Dhenkanal Senior Division Court it was ordered for the execution of the High Court’s order,” informed Snigdharani Dhal, Sub Collector, Dhenkanal.
The Dhenkanal Senior Division Court has asked its Amin Commissioner to execute the High Court’s order, Dhal added.
