The creation of a special security battalion for Puri Srimandir has been announced by Odisha

The formation of a Special Security Battalion has been announced by the Odisha government in order to safeguard the security of Puri’s Shree Jagannath Temple. The Home Department said that 1, 083 postings in various levels will be established at Puri with the formation of a special unit.

Puri, the Superintendent of Police, would be in charge of and have command over the Special Security Battalion. The Department also stated that 139 A.P.R. Force positions that were previously established under Singhdwar Police Station for the protection and safety of Puri’s Shree Jagannath Temple had been eliminated in favor of the establishment of the Special Security Battalion.

The ORV Act’s provisions and applicable recruitment guidelines will apply to the newly formed positions. The special Security Battalion has received approval in principle for the Group D staff’s varied services to be outsourced.
