The horrifying incident of acid Attack in Delhi

by Subhechcha Ganguly

According to DCP M Harshvardhan, three persons have been detained for throwing acid on a 17-year-old girl’s face in Dwarka on Wednesday. The event, which caused widespread indignation, prompted the ruling AAP and women’s organisations to wonder why acid was still readily available in Delhi markets despite a ban.

Minutes after she left her west Delhi house for school, two masked men on a bike hurled acid on the class 12 student, they claimed. According to officials, the girl has 8% burn injuries and is receiving treatment in the burn ICU at Safdarjung Hospital. They added that the suspect likely threw nitric acid on the victim. However, they claimed that only a forensic analysis could determine the exact type of acid that was used in the crime.

On Wednesday, BJP MP Gautam Gambhir called for the acid-public thrower’s execution. The ex-cricketer-turned-politician added that individuals who commit such crimes need to be made to feel a “fear of unimaginable suffering.” The victim’s neighbour and friend Sachin Arora and Harshit Agarwal have been named as the two accused who flung the acid. Virendra Singh, also known as Sonu, their conspirator, was also detained, according to Delhi Police. The attack has been reported to the National Commission for Women (NCW), and the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has notified the police.
