A movie that wasn’t promoted by Bollywood. A film that wasn’t given due importance in entertainment media. A cinema which even the distributors saw in a loss-making way. However, the same film is now making history in Indian cinema. The movie is none other than The Kashmir Files.
The Kashmir file was a brutally honest depiction of the exodus of Hindus and Hindu Pundits in Kashmir by the Muslims and the terrorists. The movie had no big stars, no big promotion and no big production house to back it up. However, it had the main essence of what to make a successful movie, a good honest director, an appealing storyline and all people putting heart and soul into a beautifully real narrated storyline.
The Kashmir Files just got 635 screens, even less than Gangubai Kathaiwadi (which is in its third week) and had a massive competition with Radhe Shyaam, Batman and Gangubai Kathaiwada. However, at the end of the third day, while Radhe Shyaam was disappointing and Gangubai slowed down, Kashmir Files showed history. The movie collected 3.55 Crores on Day 1, 8.75 Crores on Day 2 and 15 Crores on Day 3 making the highest ever jump made by a movie at Indian Box Office.
At this speed, it really seems Kashmir Files will surely make entry into the 100 Crores Club. The movie is just made with a budget of 14 Crores. Hence it again proved, if you are showcasing something good, the public will grasp it, no matter how other forces might try to push you down.
