Featuring Poetess Promila Devi Sutharsan Huidrom

In every corner of the world, one truth remains constant — the unmatched presence of a mother. From nurturing our first steps to standing as the pillar behind our achievements, mothers are the architects of love, discipline, strength, and compassion. Their influence is not just confined to households, but extends to society at large, shaping generations quietly and powerfully. In this special feature, we aim to explore and celebrate the real, everyday stories of mothers who define what it means to be the emotional foundation of our lives.

Through this exclusive, we invite voices from all walks of life to reflect on what motherhood truly means in today’s world — its joys, struggles, evolution, and impact.

  • What is the first memory that comes to your mind when you think of your mother?
Ans Caregiver, Responsible, Motherly : that is my mother. She has been always responsible and caring. Every mother in their way are best to their kids.

  • How has your mother influenced your values or decisions in life?
Ans I have become a responsible mother seeing my mother, and growing up in her shadow has made me a fine human being. The love to feed the hunger, the poor, the fragile and the needy before we feed ourselves is what my mom taught me always.

  • Do you believe the role of mothers has evolved over time? If yes, how?
Ans Indeed yes- the role of a mother has evolved, now she work outside too, the lucky ladies are those who get household help from their counterparts or helpers. A mothers role is vast, unending and numerous.

  • What challenges do you think mothers face in today’s fast-paced world that often go unnoticed?
Ans The mothers are responsible for both home and work. It is more difficult for single mothers. She already go through so much psychologically and physically after giving birth and then the other tasks. It’s not really challenging to be a mother and a working professional too.

  • If you could describe your mother in just three words, what would they be and why?
Ans Loving, Caring, Responsible as I mentioned before. As nobody is bound to anything but in life we choose what we want in life. The initial path we chose takes us to our destiny. Becoming a mother is the choice of the lady, if she chooses to be one then it’s indeed necessary to fulfill the duties with love and engagement.

  • In your opinion, how can society better support mothers — both emotionally and professionally?
Ans Homemakers should be given a stipend or minimum amount for herself. It can be done by the government policies. There should be free medical arrangements made for mother’s physical and mental health if not for all. Maternity leave should be considered more seriously. Husbands should support the wife with chores and the baby.

  • Have you ever realized something profound about your mother only later in life? Share that realization.
Ans There is no end to explain about the sacrifices my mother made in her life for us. When we see that the groceries are always available, no matter what. When I see the fees are always paid, the clothes are always washed and ironed and so on and so forth. Apart from that my mother always kept an open eye in my education system. She always followed up, talked to my friends, teachers and the Principal. She always made things possible for us. She made sure that we study well and become independent in our lives.

-Study and be responsible as that is what make us wise human being !!!
