The much awaited winner of Lockup Season One – Munawar Faruqui

“ Wo tha tufaan, jo dastak leke aya tha,

Akela tha laga Lashkar leke Aya tha;

Kehna wo dongri wala aag leke aya tha.”

This was the winning speech of Munawar Faruqui the boy of Dongri who ruled millions of hearts. For the first time in any reality show a contestant won more than the combined votes of all the other finalists. He was trending with several hashtags like Munawar for the win, Munawar as the deserving owner etc. Before Munawar entered lockup he faced several issues because of the comedy shows he did. He shows got cancelled because a lot of people felt he disrespected a certain religion and did hurt sentiments of several people. However Munawar said, that when audiences would be seeing him live for 24 hours their opinion would surely change about him and he was absolutely correct.

A lot of people tweeted about Munawar and applauded him for his tremendous struggle he did to reach this platform. The fandom of Munawar Faruqui is known as Munawar ki Janta.Starting from losing his home in the Gujarat riots, to losing his mother at a very young age and facing sexual assault he has faced every thing that terrifies a human being. Munawar Faruqui has really emerged as the true winner and has made a permanent place in the hearts of people.
