BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of Durga Puja celebrations in Bhubaneswar, effective from October 9 to October 13. To ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety, the entry of heavy vehicles into city routes has been banned during this period. The advisory will be in force daily from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM, and violators will be fined.
Traffic regulations will be imposed at several key locations across the city to manage the increased volume of traffic and devotees. The affected routes include:
1. Khandagiri crossing to Pokhariput crossing and vice versa via Jagamara and Gandamunda crossing.
2. Fire Training School crossing to Sishu Bhawan crossing and vice versa via Paika Nagar, Siripur, and Ganganagar crossing.
3. CRP crossing to Power House crossing and vice versa via Stewart School and Unit-8 DAV School crossing.
4. Jayadev Vihar crossing to Raj Bhawan crossing and vice versa via Behera Sahi and Sastri Nagar crossing.
5. Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan and vice versa via Xavier, Kalinga Hospital, Damana, and Patia crossing.
6. Acharya Vihar crossing to New Airport crossing and vice versa via Nicco Park, Patel Marg, Housing Board, Rabindra Mandap, and AG crossing.
7. Acharya Vihar crossing to Kalinga Hospital crossing and vice versa via Sainik School crossing.
8. Vani Vihar crossing to Sishu Bhawan crossing and vice versa via Rupali Square, Satya Nagar, Ram Mandir, Master Canteen, and Rajmahal crossing.
9. Rasulgarh crossing to Lingipur crossing and vice versa via Bomikhal, Laxmisagar, Kalpana, Ravi Talkies, and Samantarapur crossing.
10. Both side service roads of NH-16 from Baramunda to Palasuni.
To accommodate heavy vehicles, alternate routes have been arranged. Vehicles from Khurda will be diverted from Pitapalli to Balikuda via Chandaka and Baranga, while those from CRP square will be diverted to Jayadev Vihar via Ekamra Villa. On the day of *Ravan Podi*, traffic from Cuttack on NH-16 will be redirected from Jayadev Vihar to CRP square via Behera Sahi, Sastri Nagar, Power House, and Unit-8 DAV crossing.
For passenger buses, those coming from Puri to Bhubaneswar will be allowed to travel from Lingipur to Baramunda Bus Stand via Samantarapur, Kalpana, Rajmahal, Sishu Bhawan, Ganganagar, and Fire Training School. Buses traveling from Baramunda to Puri will follow the same route.
Buses heading from Puri to Cuttack will use the NH Bypass from Lingipur to Hi-Tech Chhak (near Sapta Sati Mandir) via Sai Temple, Kesura, and Pandar Chhak. Buses from Cuttack to Puri will follow the reverse route.
The regulations do not apply to emergency vehicles like police, fire brigade, ambulance, and excise services. The Commissionerate Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has urged the public to plan their routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the festive period.
