Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti 2022: This year the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh is being observed on January 9, 2022. Every year it’s celebrated in the month of December or January. Guru Gobind Singh Ji was the tenth and the last guru of Sikhs, he was born in Patna on December 22, 1666, in Bihar in the Sodhi Khatri family. His birth anniversary, also known as Prakash Parv, is observed every year according to the Nanakshahi calendar between the months of December and January.
A great warrior, poet, and writer, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was also the founder of the Sikh warrior community Khalsa (Khalsa Panth)and he is also known to introduce five Ks – the five articles of faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear. He is also credited with composing the hymns that form Dasam Granth, one of the key scriptures of Sikhs. It was Guru Gobind Singh who declared Guru Granth Sahib to be the eternal Guru for Sikhs.
The birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh is celebrated with love and enthusiasm by his devotees who visit gurudwaras to seek his blessings. Devotees also distribute food and clothes to the needy on this day.

The devotees and jattas, who had already reached Patna’s Gurudwara for Guru Parb are asked to return back to their places as the authorities have also canceled the Nagar Kirtan because of the pandemic, the Gurudwara officials said.
