Two more deaths due to Assam Floods

With two additional deaths in Cachar district, the total number of persons killed in Assam’s continuing pre-monsoon floods and landslides has risen to seven, authorities said. Over two lakh people have been impacted in 24 of the state’s 33 districts since April 6, officials said. Twenty districts are now inundated.

Six persons have been reported missing in Cachar district as a result of floods and landslides, according to authorities. According to an ASDMA bulletin, at least 2,02,385 persons were impacted, with roughly 6,540 buildings partly or completely destroyed in 811 villages throughout 24 districts. While district administrations created 27 disaster distribution centres, over 33,300 individuals sought refuge in the 72 relief camps.
