Union Minister Pratap Sarangi Urges Railway Minister For Modernisation Of Balasore Station

Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises writes to the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal for modernization of Balasore railway station.

As per the report, Sarangi wrote that the improvement of Balasore has been a public demand of the people of his parliamentary constituency for a very long time. The demand was made because the as Balasore provides vital rail connectivity to various parts of the country on the Howrah-Chennai route.

Stating in the letter Saragi further said that Balasore has now slowly developed as a leading tourist destination and there should be more improvement regarding the travel services which will help the tourists. The Integrated Test Range (ITR) of DRDO in Balasore has also heightened the profile of the place in the national platform.  Also, the district is best in the industries from many vital sectors like plastic, paper, minerals, and Agri-fish processing.

He further stated that the district is also a center of CIPET, Medical College, Satellite Centre of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, University, and ITI. So with a proper ecosystem for the expansion of the district will provide an institutional complex to the people. For the intensifying of the volume of the rail traffic in Balasore, authorities have immensely contributed.

But the railway station of Balasore has only four platforms and has not been modernized equivalent with its inherent potential and developing traffic volume. For the entry and exit, only the eastern side of the station is being accessed. The western side is used for freight purposes only.

Sarangi emphasized that the western side of the railway station with sufficient availability of Railway land contributes an exceptional opportunity to build advanced infrastructure and equipment to engage the modern and future demand. Construction of multi-level car parking, premium retiring rooms, malls, hostels, and business complexes can be made through PPP mode.
